Our Planning Process

 Planning Blog

Props:

My group decided to film a music video with the song “a lot” by 21 Savage. So in order to maintain the conventions of traditional rap videos or parodies we watched while researching, we decided to include fake money, water guns, shovels, headphones, and plushies.

In the music video, we are planning on having a montage of skits that correlate to the lyrics of the song, as a majority of the lyrics in the timeframe we chose has a series of questions that are all responded with “a lot”. So throughout the video in order to better fulfill the skit, we’ll include props such as fake money, a water gun, a shovel, headphones, plushies, a math worksheet, and a car.

Costume:

Our music video will primarily feature two high school “gangsters”, so the costumes will need to represent street thug attire. To obtain this, the actors will be wearing hats with sunglasses and a chain. Sneakers will also be worn by the actors to further the casual look.

For our costumes, we chose to be gangsters. We will both be wearing hats, sunglasses, and baggy clothes. In one of the shots, there will be suits used as costumes to represent lawyers. We also will be using Lauren’s dog, Buddy, for one of the shots. Buddy will be wearing a jail costume in this shot.

Schedule:

On November 15, 2022, we researched rap music videos to get inspiration and ideas.

On November 16, 2022, we began planning our music video and discussed props, costumes, schedule, set, location, and a possible backup plan.

On November 19, 2022, we will create and finalize a storyboard for our music video

On November 21, 2022, we will film all of the scenes in our music video.

On November 22, 2022, we will work on editing all of the shots/scenes filmed into one continuous video.

On November 23, 2022, we will work on finalizing the editing and adding the non-diegetic sounds. This would be when we finalize our music video.

Set:

The set would first be the doors of the music studio where the two characters will begin to rap. The doors would open and the two would be hard at work with equipment in the background. The character will be at the microphone with headphones on. Following this, there will be a montage of different sets for every skit included in the song, closed with us back in the studio feeling successful with our cool song.

Location:

For our Music video, we plan to primarily film in one general location. The first scene would be filmed at Lauren’s studio at home, where the two actors appear to begin working on the song.

The next scenes would be filmed through Hidden Cove Drive, Lauren's mother’s house, and this is where we plan to complete all our skits. Our last location will be back in the studio completed as the song fades out. The studio is used in the music video to represent that the skits in between where we are outside of the studio, aren’t real but rather what we have imagined in our minds and that canonically, we never actually left the studio. The studio will also be used to sign to the viewers that the song has begun and eventually concluded.

Backup Plan:

In the event that it begins to rain, we would postpone our dates back on days when the weather is clearer, or even wait for it to clear up that day. If one of the two actors is not present, one person would have to do the roles of both the actor and the director as we’re bringing our friends to help record our shots since we’re only 2 people in our group. If the designated director is not present, one of the actors will also have to film, setting up the camera somewhere like a table or window.
