]My Commercial

Throughout this project, I learned a lot. It has been a great experience with many stepbacks but overall I enjoyed doing it. There is still much I can improve on but this is still a learning experience for the next project I will do like this one. I am happy with how the video turned out and the development I've gone through during this experience.

                1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product challenges conventions as traditionally these paddle boards are used at the beach, lake, or other large bodies of water. However, I use my product right in my own backyard at an Intracoastal, rather than these other bodies of water. Along with this, my advertisement concludes with a final shot of the board itself on land, rather than the typical wide shot of the board being used on water, as seen in many advertisements I analyzed in research for this project. A social issue my product challenges is stress and anxiety, with paddleboards being portrayed as a coping mechanism to relieve oneself and calm down.

            2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

The product engages with the audience specifically through the music choice. The song chosen is attention-grabbing from the start and it immediately excites the audience with a fun and creative way to spend one’s time. As a real media text, it would be distributed over other social media platforms such as Instagram, Meta, Youtube, and more.

 3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

My production skills developed throughout this project because by applying the camera shot knowledge gained in class to my actual project, I was able to familiarize myself with these angle terms better as I was now using them firsthand. This greatly helped my angle identification skills as I have expanded my understanding of these terms substantially compared to when I began this project.

 4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?

Throughout my project, I used technology frequently. When I had to upload blogs or upload the video onto YouTube I used my computer. When I was recording the project, I used an actual camera which I had to connect to my computer so I could access the clips. I also edited those clips together on my computer. Every step of this project involved technology in some way.
