Research before Recording
Hello guys, welcome back to another blog regarding our progress.
As of now, my group still hasn't been able to record but in the meantime, I've decided to research some camera angles and music.
I wanted to know what the best camera angles would be for the movie so I looked it up. For the scene where they are fighting, I wanted to know how to portray that in the best way possible. I found that fight scenes are really planned out. The choreography needs to be set up so it looks like an actual fight and not just a scripted scene where people pretend to hit each other. Since the actors are going to use fake weapons, we need to make sure the hits look real. What I found is that the camera angles are the most important parts of the video. High and low angles are super important to show who has the power in the battle. they add depth and dynamic in the fight scenes. Since in at the end of the scene the girl wins, low angles on her will signify her dominance of the situation. When the guy falls on the ground right before she shoots her, there will be a low shot of the girl looking down on the guy which will be amazing to show that she is stronger than him. I also saw that over-the-shoulder shots are good for when trying to fake a punch. These will be good for when he is trying to hit her with the knife as well. When he pulls the knife out, I found that it is most common to use a medium-wide shot with a wider-angle lens to show the knife and the distance between the characters. Moving the camera around a lot also shows the amount of chaos going on. So of course we have to have a great cameraman.
A while back while my group and I were coming up with the music for the movie, all of us decided that it would be super cool if the girl walked away to the song Maneater by Nelly Furtado. But that might be copyrighted so there has to be an alternative. For the song Maneater, I thought it would be a good idea when they're eating and when they start to get suspicious, the beginning of the song starts playing and then stops. So when the song plays at the end, it parallelism to the dinner. I think it would be really cool. I also found some song alternatives that I put in a playlist just in case the songs we want to use are copyrighted. But for right now, learning the angles is more important.
As I further my research to find more camera angles and music, it's amazing to learn how much really goes into the planning of a movie. Stay posted for more updates!! See you next time.
